Troy Racing is a retail / mail-order motorcycle dealership with its worldwide headquarters located in Dayton, Ohio, U.S.A. It was formed in 1990 by Albert Vontz III, Phil Alderton, and Scott Paul. The dealership sells Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha motorcycles, Honda power equipment and Yamaha watercraft. Due to its focus on its mail-order business Troy Racing has become the world's largest supplier of O.E.M. Honda motorcycle parts to the motorcycle enthusiast.
Although the dealership sells streetbikes as well as dirtbikes, the business focuses on off-road riding in general and motocross / supercross racing specifically. This is primarily due to the fact that the founding partners were each successful amateur motocross racers at one time or another. In 1992 it was decided that the mail-order portion of the business, being at a national and international level, would benefit from the exposure of racing motocross and supercross at the professional level.
At the end of 1992, Troy Racing (known then as Honda of Troy) provided a Honda CR500 and parts to, one-time 125cc Regional Supercross Champion, Todd DeHoop for the last four 500cc Nationals. Thus, the Troy Racing team was born...
